Women’s Army Corps of Camp Hale

This presentation will explore the story of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) during World War II.

From its groundbreaking creation in 1942 to the rigorous training its members underwent, the program highlights the vital roles women played in supporting the U.S. war effort.

Attendees will learn how the WACs proved their value in traditionally male-dominated spaces, and how their contributions challenged societal norms, laying the groundwork for future generations of women in uniform.

Special focus will be given to a unique WAC detachment stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado—a remote and rugged training site best known for housing the famed 10th Mountain Division.

Through the lens of this detachment’s experiences, the program offers a closer look at the challenges, resilience and patriotism of the women who served.
